Abstract

Mass media coverage regarding Indonesia's cancellation as host of the 2023 U-20 World Cup intensified when the official song for the championship which was previously uploaded on the official FIFA website began to no longer be accessible.. Various issues causing the cancellation of this championship began to be reported in the mass media, including the international mass media Arabic.rt.com. The purpose of this study is to critically analyze the exclusion and inclusion techniques used by the authors in reporting on the cancellation of the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia. This research method is descriptive qualitative from the results of critical discourse analysis using Theo Van Leeuwen's approach. The data was obtained from the Arabic.rt.com page and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results of the analysis show that news writers tend to use the inclusion technique in writing the news being analyzed. In the news there is also one party who is marginalized, namely the governor of Bali. So it can be seen that the ideology that the author wants to convey is the rejection by a government official regarding the participation of the State of Israel in the event which was the main cause in the cancellation of the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia.
